Hailing from Hammond, Indiana; Bob Chapek, former chairman of Disney Parks has just been named as the new CEO of the Walt Disney Company.
Born sixty years ago, Bob and his family took annual vacations to Walt Disney World, with absolutely no idea that Bob would be day be the chairman of the Disney Parks, let alone CEO of the Walt Disney Company.
After graduating from Clark High School, Chapek took a Bachelors Degree in Microbiology at Indiana university, Bloomington. Followed by a Master of Business degree at Michigan State University.
In his early career Chapek worked in brand management for H.J. Heinz Company, and then in advertising for J Walter Thompson before eventually joining the Walt Disney Company in 1993.
Early on in his Disney career, Chapek worked in Burma Vista Home Entertainment; where he became the unit’s president. In mid 2006 he was promoted to worldwide president for the home video arm, where he stayed until 2009, when he moved on to become president of distribution for Walt Disney Studios.
By September 2011, Chapek was made president of Disney Consumer Products. And then finally in 2015 he became chairman of the Disney Parks.
Having proven himself to the company time and time again, Bob Chapek has now taken the ultimate title of CEO of the Walt Disney Company, as Bob Iger steps down with immediate effect.
With this new position, we wish Bob Chapek the best of luck moving forward with the Walt Disney Company, and look forward to seeing what the future holds.
