Chadwick Boseman grew up in South Carolina where he was interested in film and basketball. He is the youngest of three children.

He was recruited by Howard University in Washington DC, where he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. That’s not all, he also graduated from the British American Drama Academy in Oxford. His program at this school was funded by the actor Denzel Washington. After returning to the United States, he performed with the National Shakespeare Company in New York.

He lands his first recurring role in 2008, in the series ‘Return to Lincoln Heights’. The same year, Chadwick Boseman made his appearance in the cinema with ‘The Express’ a film by Gary Fleders where he plays the role of Floyd Little a great soccer player.

It is in 2013, that the actor is acclaimed by the critics with his role of Jackie Robinson in the film ’42‘. The following year he tackles another legend by playing James Brown in ‘Get On Up’. Thanks to this role, he received the CinemaCon Male Star of Tomorrow 2014 award. He was also named in one of the top ten film performances of the year by TIME magazine. He received a Virtuoso Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Chadwick Boseman donned the Black Panther costume for the first time in 2016 in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ alongside Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. We got to see a glimpse of King T’Challa before the release of the Black Panther movie in 2018. He was proud to be able to play a Black Super Hero.

When Black Panther was released in 2018, Chadwick Boseman’s career then exploded, propelling him to star status. The film became a worldwide phenomenon. In 2019, the film Black Panther was nominated for Oscars in 7 different categories including Best Picture. The film did not come out with nothing as it won three Oscars: best film score, best costume design and best set design Oscar. The awards don’t stop there, Chadwick Boseman wins the NAACP Image Award for Best Actor.

Black Panther returns in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019) and in the Disney+ series What If…? in 2021. At the Creative Arts Emmy Award ceremony in 2022, he posthumously received the Emmy for Best Character Voice for his role in the animated series.

Chadwick Boseman is fighting the biggest battle of his life in the greatest of secrets. In 2016, he was diagnosed with cancer. The superhero continues to run around film sets while fighting a very real opponent. Chadwick Boseman passed away on August 28, 2020.
