Behind the scenes of Disney D-Light: technology at the service of emotion

Disney D-Light

The 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris marks the beginning of a new era of transformation, creativity and new technologies. Over the past 30 years, we have demonstrated our ability to reinvent ourselves to exceed the expectations of our visitors, and we are deploying innovative technologies to create more magical and immersive experiences than ever before. Disneyland Paris can count on the talent of its Cast Members and surrounds itself with French and European specialists renowned for their know-how in technology.

For the 30th anniversary, at nightfall, a new moment of intense emotion accompanies Disney Illuminations, one of our visitors’ favourite shows. Under the name Disney D-Light, new magic sequences combine video projection, luminous water jets, lighting effects, fog, lasers, and famous Disney music, and end with a moment of pure magic with the appearance of drones above Sleeping Beauty Castle.

A real technological feat and a first for a Disney park, Disney D-Light is the result of a fruitful collaboration of more than 8 months between the Disneyland Paris show teams and the teams of Dronisos, the official technology supplier based in Bordeaux and the European leader in drone shows.

Dronisos recruited and trained 4 telepilots from the world of entertainment, specially trained for Disney D-Light. They are responsible for the flights and the 2 teams of 4 people who operate the sequence in rotation to be able to offer this moment of magic every evening.

Go behind the scenes of the development of this spectacular moment with Ben Spalding, the producer, and Laurent Perchais, General Manager of Dronisos.

Disney and me, it's a long love story. I fell into it as a child and never got out. From movies to theme parks, through the history of the Walt Disney Company, to comic books, everything fascinates me.
