Reopening of Disneyland Paris: COVID-related health measures

It is now official! Disneyland Paris will reopen on 15th July 2020! It is time to find out in more details which prevention measures will be applied by the park, and which rules visitors will need to abide by before and during their visit to be best prepared. 

Prepare your visit to Disneyland Paris !

  • Entrance : Holders of dated tickets will be able to go the park at the planned dates. Holders of annual passes and or undated tickets will need to make a reservation on a platform which will become available early July. Guests who have a Disney hotel package including park tickets will be guaranteed access to the park for the duration of their stay, without needing to use the online booking system. The sale of tickets and passes is currently available on the official website of Disneyland Paris, via the booking phone line, and via official resale partners; with a limited number of tickets available daily during the initial period. The sale of tickets at the parks will not be possible during the reopening period. 
  • Compulsory face mask: Wearing a face mask will be compulsory for all guests aged 11 years and above, and furthermore for Cast Members and third party visitors.
  • Physical distancing: Physical distancing measures will be implemented in the queues, rides, restaurants, shops, theatres between families / groups. Guests will be reminded of these measures by adequate signage. 
  • Regular hand washing: It is of course recommended to wash hands as often as possible, with water and soap or antibacterial gel.

  • Enhanced cleaning measures: Disneyland Paris will increase the frequency of its cleaning measures. Before the reopening, some areas such as kitchens, toilets and rides will get a deep clean. Areas in frequent contact with visitors (tables, door handles, toilets, ramps…) will also get reinforced cleaning procedures. 
  • Mandatory face mask: Wearing a face mask will be compulsory for all guests aged 11 years and above, and furthermore for Cast Members and third party visitors.
  • Dispenser of hydroalcoholic gel: more than 2,000 gel dispensers will be installed in the parks, backstage, in the hotels, and moreover at the entry and exit of the rides, restaurants, shops and theatres. 
  • Physical distancing: Physical distancing measures will be implemented in the queues, rides, restaurants, shops, theatres between families / groups. Guests will be reminded of these measures by adequate signage. 
  • Limited capacity: During its reopening, Disneyland Paris will limit capacity to a total of 25,000 people per day on the resort. 
  • Adapted rides configuration: beyond the distancing measures in the queues, the capacity of the rides will be limited. The configuration of boarding and inside the carts will be adapted to leave the required distance between families / groups. 
  • Updated capacity inside restaurants and shops: The capacity of sitting areas will be reduced in the restaurants. A new offer of takeaway meals will enable guests to eat in various outdoor locations within the parks. The buffet restaurants will be modified into a table service all-you-can-eat type. Booking will be highly recommended for all table service restaurants. 
  • Safety inside the shops: The shops of Disneyland Paris will be open et reorganised to ensure more space to circulate. Cast Members will be present to encourage guests to respect physical distancing. Entry and exit will be separated in restaurants and shops. Furthermore, plexiglass panels will be set up by the tills. Contactless payment will be encouraged.

Inside the hotels :

  • Express Check-in / check-out: Procedures for check in when arriving at the hotel and check out when departing will be accelerated. 
  • Social distancing: Hotels’ capacity will be limited.
  • Protection of the Reception: Reception desks will be protected by plexiglass panels.
  • Lifts: Only one family / one group at a time will be allowed on the lift.
  • Hand sanitising gel: several dispensers of hydroalcoholic gel will be made available to guests. 
  • Reduced capacity in the swimming pools and gyms 
  • Buffets replaced by all-you-can-eat table service offer: The capacity of sitting areas in restaurants will be reduced. Buffet-style restaurants will be modified to an all-you-can-eat offer served at your table. Booking will be highly recommended for all table service restaurants. 
  • Compulsory face mask: Cast Members and guests must wear a face mask, unless they are sitting at a dining table. 

Inside the bedrooms:

  • Enhanced cleaning: Before the reopening of a hotel, all rooms will be deep cleaned. 
  • Cleaning of surfaces: High-touch surfaces such as lamps and phones will be deep cleaned. 
  • On-demand housekeeping: Housekeeping staff will not enter your room unless you request it. 
  • Room service: Room service will be adapted with enhanced hygiene and safety measures. 
  • Adapted equipment: Enhanced measures also include changing the microfibre cleaning cloth between each room, using double pillow covers, specific equipment, as well as the withdrawal of pens, paper and decorative cushions, and using individually wrapped glasses and mugs.  
  • Deep clean after each departure: Rooms will be entirely sanitised after a guest’s final departure. 

How to enjoy Disneyland Paris this summer?

  • Selfies with the characters: Some Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters will make appearances in the parks for photo opportunities with guests. Interactions and hugs will be suspended. You will even be able to take a picture in the decor of Frozen when visiting to Animation Celebration. 
  • Rides: Thrill rides like HyperSpace Mountain and Indiana Jones will be open. Boarding inside the carts will respect social distancing rules. 
  • Enjoy the restaurants… : Sitting capacity will be reduced in restaurants, and a new takeaway meal offer will give guests the option to eat in various outdoor locations inside the theme parks. Buffet restaurants will be modified to offer an all-you-can-eat option served at your table. Booking is highly recommended for all table service restaurants. 
  • … and the shops: Disneyland Paris shops will be open and reorganised to create more space to circulate. Cast Members will also be present to encourage guests to respect physical distancing. Entry and Exit will be separated at restaurants and shops, and plexiglass screens will be set  up by the tills. Contactless payment will be encouraged. 
  • Relax at the hotel: Disney’s Newport Bay Club will be the first Disneyland Paris hotel to reopen its doors. It will be followed, in steps, by the other hotels and Disney resorts (Disney’s Cheyenne Hotel 20th July, Disney’s Santa Fe Hotel 3rd August, Disneyland Hotel 7th September, and at a later date Disney’s Sequoia Lodge Hotel and Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch). 
  • The return of showsThe Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands and Jungle Book Jive will be back this summer. Indoor and open-air theatres will be set up to ensure physical distancing. 

To be noticed :

  • Hotel guests will continue to benefit from the Early Magic Hours. 
  • Fastpass services and Single Rider lanes will be suspended. 
  • To offer visitors the maximum flexibility, new booking conditions are now available, including free cancellation or modification (excluding transport) of stays at Disney hotels and resorts, at any time and until 7 days prior to check in.   • Every day the parks will have surprises for guests, such as experiences or character meets. 
  • With the new Magic Shot experience, the Disneyland Paris Photopass team members will invite you to strike a pose and follow specific gestures and attitudes. Then, with a little bit of pixie dust, you will see Disney characters appear on the final image! Many options will be available on site. 

Disney Junior Dream Factory

inviting kids and their families to discover a « Dream Factory » along with Disney Junior’s most
beloved Characters, from Mickey, Minnie and Timon, to rising stars like Vampirina and Fancy
Nancy Clancy. Along with Factory Crew Members, the Characters will engage kids and the whole audience with a fun energy while learning memorable new songs.

Cars Route 66 Road Trip

Cars Route 66 Road Trip with be a fully-themed Cars experience with new decor, story, music
and vehicles, bringing guests along a Route 66 road trip to discover natural wonders such as the world’s biggest flat head nut and active water springs. Guests will even encounter favourite Characters like Lightning McQueen and Mater along the way, making The Walt Disney Studios park a place for unforgettable adventures when Cars and Pixar characters come to life.

Disney’s Hotel New York – Art of Marvel

In line with government measures, the construction work for Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel was temporarily put on hold, which has impacted the timeline for the hotel’s originally scheduled opening (15th June 2020). Once construction resumes and an assessment is made, more information will be available on the hotel’s expected opening.
